Jefferson County Developmental Disabilities
Resource Board
The Jefferson County Developmental Disabilities Resource Board (JCDDRB) (f/k/a Jefferson County Commission for the Handicapped) is a local governmental entity responsible for administering county funds for the development and operation of services for individuals with developmental disabilities.
JCDDRB provides direct services through NextStep for Life [f/k/a Developmental Services of Jefferson County, Inc. (DSJC)], a Missouri not-for-profit corporation administered by and through purchase of services by JCDDRB. NextStep is exempt from federal income taxes under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
To be eligible for services, an individual must have a developmental disability:
- A mental and/or physical disability that began before age twenty-two
- Likely to continue indefinitely
- Results in major problems with two or more of the following:
- Living and working independently
- Talking
- Self direction
- Learning
- Walking
- Self-care
Jefferson County residents, and families who have members with the following developmental disabilities, are eligible for services:
- Autism
- Cerebral Palsy
- Congenital Disabilities
- Down Syndrome
- Epilepsy (and other seizure disorders)
- Mental Retardation
Community Support Services (Group) of Developmental Services of Jefferson County, Inc. has received
accreditation from CARF for Community Services: Personal and Social Services.
